A few fun facts about Supra lockboxes and keys
Fun fact #1: Realtors - you can buy Supra lockboxes from your fellow NEFAR associate and transfer ownership easily.
Today I had the opportunity to help a fellow Realtor out by purchasing two Supra lockboxes from her stash. She had an abundance and our local association sells them, but does not buy them back…easy peasy to transfer ownership with a simple bill of sale.
Fun fact #2: Friends - do you know why Realtors should use a Supra lockbox to keep your home and keys
secure during the listing and sale process? These things are practically indestructible! We each buy our own lockboxes. Realtors pay monthly for access to Supra, and we each have our own unique access code thru our phone app. This makes it very easy to track who has been accessing the keys and exactly when and for how long! A unique shackle code is required to add or remove the lockbox from the home, which only the owner of the lockbox has. AND did you know the lockbox itself can be programmed to NEVER open before or after a certain time providing the homeowner with even more security and comfort? Another cool security feature is a CBS code option. CBS stands for Call Before Showing. This is a special code that has to be provided directly to the showing agent from the listing agent after a confirmed appointment has been set. It gets entered via the agent app while gaining access to the lockbox. If set up, NO ONE can get access to the lockbox keys without that CBS code! I have had law enforcement clients love this option for their own safety while selling.
The layers of security that can be added to your keys while your home is on the market is impressive in such a boring blue box
. I say all of this because these boxes are expensive and a very important part of the Realtor listing and showing process. Hiring a Realtor who subscribes to Supra is very important! And if you had no idea what those blue lockboxes were on listings, well, now you know!
Extra fun fact: when I was first licensed I could not WAIT to have access to Supra! I mean, how cool, right?! I practiced a lot with the nuance of opening the box under pressure with a buyer waiting on me, and talking to me while doing it! I made good habits of keeping the key in my pocket at all times and always sending the buyers to their vehicle at the end of a showing while I double checked every door in the house before locking up and returning the key.
The key to someone’s home should never be taken lightly! I take it seriously and I hope you have enjoyed learning more about lockboxes and my process!
PS: Last fun fact - listing with me means I handle copying your keys too. And I always make TWO extras…one for the lockbox and one I keep in my work car at all times. I mean, I love Supra and all, but stuff happens and I want to make sure I can always get into my listing to serve my client!!
